Welcome to Ketter Canoeing

9-5-9  This is it (he says with a whimper), but he is going out with a bang.

8-31-9 For all of you that were wondering how our big sale went...We have been saying it is to be the Saturday before Labor DAY.  The Saturday before Labor Day is Sept 5.  Last Saturday was the last Saturday before "Labor Day WEEKEND!!!!  And for the hundreds of you that have asked,... Well it seems like hundreds!

8-31-9  Only 5 more days...Whoo Hoo!!!  Have you ever seen a chicken running around with its head cut off?  Well, here we are, Beth and I trying to close a business on Saturday, hold an open house on Saturday for all you canoe people to pay your last respects to the Ketter era, hold a garage/estate/man/yard/close-of-business SALE on Saturday, and get the house ready for listiing by the 15th of Sept.  Come on over and watch the circus. Somehow Beth is going to section off part of the house for "paddlers only" for the sale of canoe memorabilia...uh, stuff.  Antique collectors and general public will not be admitted to this area.  Come on over and 1) identify yourself as a canoe person, and 2) come watch the circus.  We will be serving wine.

8-27-9  Man, only one more week to the end of an era.  I cannot believe it.  We have a few things that we still have a lot of.  Canoe seats!  50% off of our web and cane, curved web, both 36" and  and 42", and our wide web  seat, 42".  Tom says we have abut 500 feet  too much of our hood straps.  If you forgot to take them off the clunker, better replace them now.

8-15-9  For those of you waiting for the last minute to see if I am going to drop the canoes' price one more time...the only way that will happen is if you come over and negotiate.  I have a buyer for all of what is left after our garage/estate/yard/man sale on the 5th of Sept.  The only thing we have to much of is fiberglass and polyester resin.  So, for that, I will drop the price from $6 and $8 for 4 oz and 6 oz respectivly to $4 and $6 per yard. Also resin will be at $20 (BETTY'S PRICES)  Now is the time to stockpile for those future canoe building projects.  Again, you don't have to wait for the sale to purchase items.  Kenn

8-10-09

We are nearing the end.  We are down to about 60 canoes and kayaks combined. That means we have sold almost 200 boats (so far) this year.  That pretty much doubles our record, recent years.  Thanks to all.  We have received more positive feedback than you can imagine.

We are gong to close the doors after LABOR DAY !!!!.  We are going to have a garage sale, and since so much of Betty is still here, you could almost call it an estate sale.  That will be on September 5th (Saturday of Labor Day Weekend).  Everything left in the house will be for sale: computers, power equipment, living room hutches, wide screen HD TV, pictures on the wall and on and on and on...  That doesn't mean you can't come by earlier and throw money at us for this or that.

Our intent is to spiff up the house and have it on the market between Sept 15 and Oct 1.  Anyone who wants to do a little work around the house, I am sure we can work out something.

Anyone into landscape, carpeting, a little construction...we have canoes that we can work trades out with.

As far as product, we are now starting to sell off the rental stuff: Seda PFDs (some like new) Sawyer paddles, carrying blocks... you name it. And, what we don't sell at the garage sale, we will  have at the Hoigaards tent sale, Sept 11,12 &13.  But do me a favor... save me 10% and come by sooner.

Major Changes for 2009!  After 45+ years, the family business of Ketter Canoeing, Inc will be closing at the end of the year.  The factors are simple: indirectly, the problem can be traced back to the economy.

We are well positioned to do this over an extended period of time. Our demise is still your gain.  We plan on closing at the end of this season, September/October.  If however, we need to stay open longer to sell them all, we will.  We have 234 canoes and kayaks in our inventory including new, blems, older serial numbered, used and vintage (collectables).  You can see a complete list on the following pages under SPECIALS;  CANOE, KAYAKS.

We also have too many certain accessories that need to be liquidated.  For instance, our kayak skirts, both full neoprene and nylon over neoprene will be at 50% off with the purchase of you kayak from us. --ALL PFDs, paddles, skirts, and other accessories are ON SALE!

With discounts this steep & deep, we request cash or check. If you prefer to use a credit card, please talk to us.  The credit card companies charge the merchant (that's us) 3-4% processing fee, and we need to take this into account.  Also, we will still be happy to special order a new canoe or kayak to your specifications.  The sale price on those will be 7% off list.

Our used kayaks have been priced and are ready to be moved.  Our rental canoes will be the last items we will release, as we will still be renting them over the summer.

Rental equipment will also be on sale at the end of the season including newer Sawyer paddles, Seda PFD’s of all sizes, etc.

If you want to buy the house from which we operate located here on the Mississippi, we are ready to talk.

Hope to talk to you soon,

 Kenn Ketter.

In negotiating for a  canoe or kayak, I ask that you respect me by adhering to the following :  DO NOT negotiate over the phone before seeing the canoe or kayak.  Also, this is not a fire sale or a bankruptcy.  Don't make  an offer that is 50% more off the sale price and expect me to not be insulted.

Also, a Minnesota sales sax of 7.275 % is added to all purchases and is not to be negotiated into the sale price.

-Kenn-

Here is a little story...a long time customer from Minnetonka called the other day and was telling me about the grief his wife was giving him over how much time he spends in his canoe.  He went on to say that, regrettably, he was probably going to have to trade her in.  I asked him to give me a description.  His answer was, "... she is about 5' 7" tall, thin, a brunette..."

We speak CANOE!!!

Since Betty and Karl L. Ketter started this business back in the late 60s, Ketter Canoeing has been the resource for canoes, instruction and information in the Twin Cities Metro area. There are other fine dealers in town, but we're the only ones on the water! In fact, we're pretty sure we're the only ones on the water South of Duluth! That means you have the ability to demo most of the Wenonah catalog right on the Mississippi River RIGHT NOW! No waiting for specific demo days, come paddle the boat you want, compare it against the others you might be considering, and since Ketter Canoeing offers the largest canoe inventory in Minnesota, we probably have your new boat right here in town.

For generations, we've been located on the banks of the Mississippi River in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. We stock Wenonah Canoes and Current Designs Kayaks for sale and rental. We have the largest canoe and kayak inventory in Minnesota. We invite you to learn more about Ketter Canoeing.
