You are responsible for any and all equipment while it is in your possession.
We
are taking your credit card information as a security deposit against any
damage that may occur to our equipment. You will be responsible
for the real value of that equipment. In other words, if the kayak
or canoe is used over a long period of time, and you run it over the
goose berry falls, you probably will be buying the canoe at the cost
for us to replace it. If by chance you run the canoe into an
automated car wash, and it had only been rented once prior, you will be
buying a new canoe at retail. If it is possible to repair the
canoe, that would be the best option for all at your cost. Now if
the damage is every day wear and tear, that is not a problem.
However,
sometimes there is a question as to what is every day wear and
tear. Below is a Canoe and Kayak bill of rights. Treat your rental
canoe or kayak with respect and follow the guidelines below for a
successful rental experience.
The following language is posted on the back of the rental form which you will sign and date:
Bill of Rights: Canoe /Kayak and equipment care!
Special
canoes need special care & Ketter Canoeing, Inc. customers are
notorious for good canoe and kayak care. Here are some necessary
tips to make sure you have a fun, safe trip. Failure to follow
these tips leading to damage or loss will be charged to your CC.
1. When you tie more than one canoe onto the car, do
not let them touch during travel. Doing so will wear a hole
through the vinyl or kevlar finish of both craft.
2 When launching or
landing, parallel park to the shore. Do NOT drive the canoe or
kayak straight into the shore and do NOT walk through the canoe.
The old Boy Scout days are over.
3. When portaging, do not drag the canoes or kayaks like the
ol'aluminum. That is why we make them light.
4. While taking a break on shore, take the canoes and
kayaks out of the water. Do NOT leave them floating in the waves
and rubbing onto rocks or even a sandy beach.
5 While camping over night, tie them down.
Especially the canoes, They are light and shaped like a
kite. They are amazing flying objects once they take
flight. Don't be a Charlie Brown.
6 Upon return report any holes or deep scratches...so
that they can be fixed before the next guy takes it. Like your
tent, it is not fun to find out that the canoe or kayak has holes once
you are on the trip.
7 Most paddles are broken
when slapping water bugs or making beaver sounds. Really!
If a paddle does break for any reason, bring back all the pieces.
Can't be fixed without the pieces.
8 Return it on time. These canoes and kayaks at
these prices are in demand and are reserved for specific dates as it
was when you reserved it.
9 Pack some duct tape, the band aid for all occasions.
10 Do not drive into the garage, car wash, McDonalds Drive
thrugh etc without checking the clearance. At lest 5 a year fall
prey to this demise.
The renter hereby assumes all
responsibility for any and all damages or loss of rented equipment, and
agrees to pay full cost for any repairs or replacement of equipment at
real value, whether such loss occurs through accident, negligence or
misuse. The renter declares to have examined said equipment and
found it safe and secure. The renter hereby absolves Ketter
Canoeing, Inc, its owners, and employees, of any responsibility in the
event of accident, regardless of cause or consequensces, and that any
cost, claims, court fees, attorney fees or liability resulting from the
use of rented equipment will be indemnified by the renter, regardless
of claims that may be instituted.
The
Renter Will Pay Full Daily Rental For Each Day Late Return of
Equipment. You must Call 1-763-560-3840 if You Are Going To Be
Late. Returning
a canoe early will not constitute a refund because
canoes and kayaks were reserved for a period of time which others did
not have access to. Charges will be asessed for damage/loss
agianst the credit card listed unless previous arrangements have been
made. Cost of charges will be for normal repair rates, assuming the
canoe or kayak can be repaired to its previous condition. If
repair rates are greater than the replacement cost of the equipment,
you will have bought your self a canoe, kayak, pfd, paddle, etc.
